Self care is super important! If you can't love yourself it is hard to show up for anyone else in this world. Keep your cup full in order to pour your love onto others.
Below are a few ways I enjoy being there for myself on a regular basis:
Move Daily. No matter if its a Pilates class, going out for a run, dance breaks throughout the day or a massaging foam roll session before bed it sets the tone for the day and allows me to really be present in my body and all its wonder.
Eat and Drink Nourishing Foods. This means getting in enough water or enjoying a cup of my favorite tea. I make sure to meal prep my lunch for work or have healthy snacks on hand such as vegetables and hummus or jerky sticks. There are also days when I crave a sweet treat and allow myself to fully enjoy the pleasure of fruit dipped in chocolate or eating ice cream on my back porch.
Reading a Book or Listening to a Podcast. You can really be transported to another world through books. They are the window to the soul. Podcasts are another way to learn about the world and appreciate all the wisdom there is through listening to another's story.
Epsom Salt Baths. Nothing is more relaxing than being in a body of water and taking some time to be still. These baths help me recharge and ground me for the next day ahead.
Meditation. Coming to your breath and being still is a gift very few of us are able to come to daily. When you do though it makes a world of difference. I use an app on my phone called Insight Timer to sneak in sessions throughout my day. It provides you the option to just use a timer with bells to let you know when complete or have someone guide you through the full experience.
Journaling. Taking time to express my feelings and get in touch with my inner self often happens on blank pages. It's also a nice way to document my life and look back on how much I have grown over the years.
Being in Nature. Sometimes just getting outside for some fresh air and a change of scenery is all I need to reconnect with myself. I am able to take in all the beauty of the world and appreciate my role in it.
